Maybe a dumb question or a real problem.

I received my RD1 about a week ago and I learn to like it. But, today as I'm focusing with the RD1, I take notice that the rf patch is moving out of center. My first thought is that the rf is misaligned, then I check it again, it seem that it is the frame line which is moving while i'm focusing. It is normal ? To be sure, I put the lens on my M6, and as i'm focusing the frame line is moving with the rf patch at the center. So it is normal, or my RD1 have a problem ?

Thank you in advance for answering maybe a dumbe question from a beginner.

Normal. The framelines move for parallax correction, but the RF patch stays fixed. Most of my other rangefinders move the RF patch with the framelines, which I prefer. (The other exception is my Fuji GS645... of course, I didn't actually know that until I took it out just now to try it...)

It's normal. M6 and R-D1 have different parallax correction mechanisms. Also coming from a M6, it took me quite some time to get used to the R-D1 finder. Alas, I would be happy if this would be the only quirk of that camera...

13'000 actuations and I had never realized that ... 😱
I guess I am focusing more on what is happening on the other side of the finder than what is inside. Good news I guess 😉

Just a matter of being accustomed to it i guess but i would not swap the 1:1 VF of the R-D1 for any of my 0.72x, 0.85x or even 0.91x Leica VFs. Even less for the 0.68x of the M8 AFAIK.
