Maybe redundant thread

you can defend with your leica while swinging this around at gunless conflicts :)

This sounds like a joke but I know one guy who actually had to use his (mint!) Leica LHSA version as a club to ward off angry ninja miners in Mongolia. They took the camera from him (no better way to disarm a man than to take his weapen from him, right?) and threw it away. Camera showed scratches and dents, and the lens and hood too. It all still worked but the camera was no longer mint. :D

This has been posted before but thanks for reminding me as I'd probably lost the link.

That PJ's book about photographing Iraq looks interesting. Anyone read it?

Thought I'd interject about Ashley Gilbertson's comment on the body armor. I use the M8 with it pretty much all the time and have NEVER had that problem. What I find interesting is that he didn't have anything attached to his vest, as that would be no different than using it on bare chest. If in doubt it is always best to test what you will be using with what you will be wearing.

For any of you who plan on shooting a combat zone, I'll give a little advice. Throw a couple of pouches(for extra lens, etc.) on the vest so that the top of them just sits below the breast line. When you adjust the strap where the camera sits on top of the pouches it provides good access and protection. Leaving the camera low in and around a combat area results in broken stuff. I learned the hard way.

Not too sure why I added that but it's something that has worked for me.

Cheers!
