I think it's clear to anyone who has read the current L-Camera Newsletter the 09/09/09 announcement will be about the S2.

It's the product Leica is betting the farm on not an M9.

Why should they announce the S2 a second time? The first announcement was just before photokina 2008. The specs are published, the price is published, what new could it be regarding the S2?

Is it? Your reading skills must be vastly superior to mine:rolleyes:

From the newsletter:
On September 9th Leica will introduce a collection of ground-breaking new products designed and manufactured for all photographers, novice and professional alike.

To me "products" means more than one - there will be three products introduce a little bird tells me- and an S2 is hardly something for a "novice" Besides, it was introduced at the Photokina 2008, so that one is out of the picture as far as introductions go. Although I do expect an announcement about when it will be in the shops exactly.

Give this a look, I now see an M9.

ahh, I see

ahh, I see

I have no idea about > 8.2, but the 8 and 8.2 have the same firmware and the wording is "Lens detection" with on/off parameters.

No idea what this new camera's "Auto" means.

I doubt they will have a manual table, they have so much invested in this 6-bit detection scheme.

This one has an "Auto" setting. Maybe a "Manual" submenu, too ?

I'm still guessing they'll use this as FF platform for other lenses, too, including R lenses. The short registration distance calls for it, and it would indeed be a revolution, if you could use Canon and Nikon lenses on that body.

I don't know

I don't know

With the discontinuation of future R platform products, I think they'll leave 3rd party lens adoption to others, and try to move out some new M lenses, especially those new wide fast luxes, and those 2.5 Summarits. But I'm not sure, we'll see!
