So I had the pleasure of hanging oot with our own moderator, "Backalley Joe" in Edmonton for a few hours on Wednesday, while I was in town for a conference. He's off on his way to Jasper, a trip I was going to join him on but had to cancel at the last minute.

We had a great time talking and walking aboot downtown Edmonton and oot on White ave. He had his two Zed-I's, and I discovered what freezing temperatures do to my not-yet-replaced foam on my Canonet (wow). Going to go home and swap them oot for some new ones tonight.

I'll post some pics soon.

over and oot,
allan

We mostly talked about the M8 and banding the whole time. Oh wait, no we didn't 🙂

We just chatted about stuff in general. I have always enjoyed shooting with others in general, as they see stuff I don't, and vice versa. Topics ranged from politics to photography to RFF to work. Just hanging out, to be honest. One thing that made me feel better was that even _he_ was cold. Sheesh. -7 most of the time we were out.

That's aboot it.

So what's he like in person? Tell us more about this man, the myth, and the legend! 🙂

You can take the man out of New York, but you can't take New York out of the man.

Other than a change in accent......

hi guys...it wasn't that cold...

i am in jasper, a gem in the canadian rockies.
it's 'between' seasons here so the place is near empty and lots of the touristy stores are closed for a few weeks.
it's beautiful, cloudy and about -5 i think so walking around isn't too bad at all.

took only a few shots so far, mostly with the 25.

this is your ex new yorker turned cold canadian signing off..

😉

Last night it was 65 degrees and all of us were standing around complaining that it was "freezing." 😀 🙄

ah, -7 Celsius?... pfffft, I tought we were talking about -7 Kelvin.... Now that is cold...
(I guess with this I've topped the "not cold enough" bragging 😀)

Well, at least Joe sniffled when he got back into warmer places. I'll take what I can get when the cold started seeping into my (inappropriate) shoes.

It's just been a while since I've been around that much ice and snow, so it threw me. And yeah, I have gotten used to CA winters, though you can't take the NJ out of me, either. Cold is cold. But I was cold in NJ when it got below freezing, and I was cold in Edmonton when it did. It's not like somehow I learned to wear t-shirts in -7C or something when I lived back east.

Twain was out of his gourd with the whole "coldest winter I've ever spent was a summer in SF". When I was in Minnesota last month the snow flurries and wind chill made me want both my mommy and foggy summers out in the Sunset district. Minus 7, sheesh, I'm reporting that place to the Humane Society.....
