Medalist Question

I just bought a Medalist II a few weeks ago, and I've done the math and it seems like respooling is the most economical path for my needs. If I were using the camera professionally or planned to put 100 rolls through it in a year, then it might make sense. But the way I see it, I could spend $200 on film, or $200 on convenience. I'd rather use the camera and deal with the annoyance. I am contemplating buying a camera which will take 120 and 620 spools so I can respool without a dark room.

Ultimately, it's not that much different than making sure 4x5 holders are filled or bulk loading 35mm. As long as the chore doesn't keep me from enjoying the camera, I'd rather save the money.

Not sure anyone does the 620 - 120 conversions on the Medalist cameras anymore. The gentleman who was doing them has since retired.

Best,
-Tim

That's a shame. It was nice to have the option to have the conversion done.

It's also unfortunate that we're down to single individuals providing these services. All of those folks need apprentices before it's too late.
