Medium format and motorcycle trip

Watch for signs of bike vibration.
Whatever camera you take, if you find irregular frame spacing on your negs. it's probably because vibration from the bike is too much for the springs that rest against the 120 roll to prevent it unraveling in the camera.
This happened in my Mamiya 6 ( my recommendation - with 50mm ) but tweeking the flat springs resting on the rolls resolved the problem. That and foam under the camera.

I'm not a motorcyclist, I do not own an Hassy, the only MF cameras I have are a Rollei (from my father) and an...Holga, I do not live in USA but on the other side of the ocean (europe) : without knowing why I like this thread!

Frank, did you consider a Fuji GA645w or GS645 ?
Those are lighter, super good lenses, and it takes way less space than the Hassy.

If landscapes would be your MF main subjects, 6x4.5 is plenty big and beautiful when printed.

And I think I asked this already, but what additional luggage will you be taking beyond what's on the bike in this photo?

Hi Vince, this is Chisholm's Mill near Roslin, ON. On the way between where I live and where my parents live.

As far as luggage, I think I will manage with just a slightly larger duffle bag than the one pictured, ideally a waterproof one. It feels good to have a bag to lean against on your lower back. Compared to riding 2 up, the center of gravity should be the same for the duffle.

I have a Perkeo 1 bit with the Color Skopar lens, which I regard highly. the Perkeo sizewise is almost non-existent compared to the other gear you are taking. I truly like the results from my Perkeo and cannot imagine why it could not ride along occupying 2"x4.5"x 5.4" in the bag.

I am currently in a minimalist phase and am thinking of taking just an M2 with Summaron and the Perkeo ll. The latter gives me a normal focal length result (longer with cropping) and medium format quality.

I once took a Shen Hao + tripod and gear to Cuba...and a Crown Graphic and kit to northwest China. I'm pretty sure you can handle a Hassy and a small 2nd body on this trip -- the main thing is padding, and that's easily enough taken care of.

As Nike says, just do it!

Throw over saddlebags are a good idea. Windshield? Well I guess that's all personal preference. I did Toronto to Alaska on my 900f without a windshield and had no troubles. One thing about a windshield is that if it rains you'll not only have to look through a rain-covered helmet shield, you'll also have to look through a rain-covered windhshield, so some compromised visibility. But I can see some advantages to having one (wind etc).

Saddle bags maybe but a windshield no. I like to be in the wind. That's the point of it all.

I really think that a duffle bag and the tank bag will be enough storage. I won't be camping.

Just a rain jacket and pants. If the weather gets wet, I don't need to travel in it, just hole up until it passes, or with weather radar info, ride to avoid it. That's the beauty of being completely flexible.

Now I'm thinking this kit.

Rolleiflex with Nettar backup for 120. The Nettar will be tucked away with my clothes, to be used only if the rollei stops working.

M2 with Summaron, CL with CV21. Canon 50f1.8 and 28f2.8.

I don't know how to ride motorcycle but I did a 8 months cycling trip from London to China few years back. carry mp and 4 lenses with a induro tripod, and lx3 for snapping.
