Medium Format ... long may it live!

As every day goes by, I appreciate my Mamiya RB67 ever more. I am usually a B&W photographer / analogue printer, but every now and then I shoot some colour slide film. These two were both taken with the 65/4.5 lens, hand-held (I love how stable and vibration-free this camera is), on Provia 100F:

Haven't posted in a while, here are some from late last year in a jazz joint in San Francisco, Haight area. All were taken with Mamiya 6, 50mm f/4, Fuji Pro 800Z.

Dammit I want to go MF now.

The question is though, do I go for an eminently hand holdable and travel friendly 645 RF or a Hassy?

I find my Leica a little constraining for landscapes and so on, using a polariser and grad filter is a little clumsy. So a Hassy would make sense, but they're big, expensive and from what I gather not particularly hand holdable. Hmmmm....

Have you considered a Mamiya 7? Twice the area of the 6x4.5, and easier to carry than the Hasselblad. Plus, there is no mirror slap.

Fantastic camera for taking pictures. (of course, they really are over priced).
 
There is no way, you could ever, ever do this with a Leica, or a Zeiss, or a Contax 35mm RF ,
or whatever. 120 rules, that is all, I have nothing further to say on the matter 😉

645 Has an area factor of 2.7 times the 35mm frame, shoots 15 images on 120 (30 on 220, but less emulsions in 220) and has many good options from rangefinder to SLR.

670 and 690 offer from 4 to 5 times the frame factor of 35mm.

I shoot 690 most often, and in fact have sold my 645's.

Then there's 4X5 large format!!!

If you go to large format 120, you'll ultimately be tempted to go large format 4X5. The sharpness and flexibility of IQ gets quite scary (read good) as the negative goes up in size.

I am happy to carry a Fuji GW690 to get tack sharp images in the larger range for medium format.
