Medium Format ... long may it live!

Every time I find myself fretting (I guess "metaphysical doubt" is the term) over this or that in 35mm (agonising over whether I should get rid of my OM gear, or my Leica M gear, whether I should get a better 50mm lens, viewfinder quality, etc) I simply either take or print a 6x7cm negative, and all such concerns fade into obscurity, allowing one to truly focus on the craft at hand with the best possible tool.

Beast as it is, the RB67 is one of the best buys in photographic tools. It was my first film camera, and it will be my last!

Hans, Yes it's the Cistern in Istanbul and that's not marble, it's water with a 30 sec. exposure, it smooths the ripples from condensation dripping from the ceiling and the various size fish swimming near the surface.

Lovely shot of the cistern Richard. I noticed it in the gallery last week and listed it as one of my picks of the week. Well done.

Very nice. Immediately recognisable as MF. Jo'burg?[/left]

Thanks! Yes, Melrose Arch, in Johannesburg. I keep on thinking I should throw out all my 35mm gear: I am an all-analogue guy, and there is simply no comparison in the darkroom.
It's interesting that the apparent print quality difference between 35mm and 6x7cm is absolutely vast in all cases, yet the apparent difference between 6x7cm and 4x5in film is small in most cases.

I shoot a lot of 4x5in these days, but the only real benefit is the camera movements - from an image quality standpoint, medium format is more than I need already.
