Waiting on Maitani
My first was with a Brownie Hawkeye Flash, this is at 6x7:

John: When I am working in Rochester, I pass the (former) Hawkeye plant every day ... it's now an ITT facility where they do stuff like, oh, systems for the Hubble and the "next" Hubble. This photo is a fitting tribute to that building.

Danny: I once had a Ciroflex which was a real dog ... (couldn't have been MY problem, of course!) ... I think it was a lesser and/or defective model. That Ciro shot is outstanding. It reminds me of a shot I made on my Toyo w/ Polaroid Type 55, only the subject was a few years older and facing the camera. I have not yet found the print (or neg), the exposure being made MANY years ago. If I could I would hang my entire photographic history on it. So, that's how much I like that shot of yours.

Nope. Not me.
Nope. Not me.
My stash of outdated 120 includes 1 roll each of Kodachrome 64 and Technical Pan. The only Verichrome Pan I have is in my Brownie Hawkeye. Probably been in there since the late 50s, early 60s.
What kind of reel do you need? Stainless or plastic? Paterson or Jobo? I may have a surplus 120 reel on hand that I could place on indefinite loan.
They call me the Pusher Man!
Nope. Not me.
Someone send me a 120 reel or two? I actually DO have a 6x6 back ... and I have some outdated 120 film, including one roll of Verichrome Pan ...
someone, please ... save me from this madness.

Survey sez....
Trius: Thanks for the compliment, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to find that neg - or print.
As for the ciroflex that I have, it's a dirt-simple camera with a wollensak lens - and at the time was what I could afford (free!). I don't shoot with it much these days - the spiral arm that pushes the lens in/out went outta whack a few years back and so there's slack when adjusting focus.

Why did it take me so long?
Why did it take me so long?
Some thoughts of a new MF convert:
1) I wasted 30 years shooting 35mm color, period.
2) When I'm shooting MF, I'm never thinking in the back of my head "Why not just shoot this with digital?" There's no comparison at all.
3) I'll continue to shoot 35mm a bit, but only because I love small, manual RF cameras. Again, there's no comparison.

The only good thing about 135 is speed. If this is not required, I would always stick to 120.

Wayne: Stainless ... plastic is too slippery.
Harland: Thank you; it will be re-discovered one day. Karma.

The quality of photos in this thread just keeps amazing me, and reminding me that it is worth the extra weight and effort. Jan - I love that shot with the Yashica.

I have enjoyed looking at the many great images in this thread. Lots of really great work. I think that what happens with MF images is that once you get into the artistic trenches and push yourself... you start creating a different type of composition just because your working with a square or 6/7 or 6/9 or even a 6x12 or 6x18 ultra wide negatives. Your mind starts to stretch and boom you have a different creative output. All for the better. I do however see in the fine art photo world a bias towards medium shooters...and most often by our friends in the "View Camera" or "DIE" circles.
I also see that most of the serious creative work for many years is coming from Medium and 35 not the View Camera crowd. I can say this as having shot on 4x5 and owning a 5x7 now...this mind set is stale and still trying to mimick all of the famous dead guys. You know the F64 group. These are most often why a cliche image with great densatometry readings is always a artisically better. anyway lots of great images here. When I get time I will post a recent MF image. ALL the best....Laurance

The best camera is one that still works!
As promised...here is shot about a week old. On 100 Acros, in RO9. shot on a Rolleicord 3.5 Xenar with reflective light in a hallway. F5.6 at 1/60 handheld as close as I could get. Again an example of what those out of date cameras can do.
Absolutely superb ....!

Amazing shots there, really digging it. What did you use to shoot these, what kind of film (assuming they were film), Portra NC, Astia, 160S/400H?
They look fantastic in their demure low contrast low saturation glory.

Hi Vicky
I've used FUJI NPZ 800... I love this film in medium format, even in 35mm!!
