Medium Format ... long may it live!

Hasselblad 501c - Planar 80mm T* - B/W conversion in Lightroom

Although my mainstay is 35mm B&W for the moment (Olympus OM gear is so compact!) I absolutely adore medium format. This format is also the only in which I do some colour work.

We are certainly not yet at the stage where anything in 35mm (film or digital) can touch the resolution, tonal separation, and sheer detail that even cheap MF cameras can capture. I thoroughly enjoy the process.

Is that you David?

I wonder if this is still so, with several full frame DSLRs producing files of ~25Mpixel resolution? Some are in the $2500 range. Anyone have any ideas?

The file from a Sony A850 is 6048x4032 or 24.6Mps
A file from 2750ppi scan of 6x6(56x56mm) film =a file thats approx 6050x6050 or 36.6Mps.

And so i picked up a used Mamiya 7 with standard 80 lens a few weeks back...been using it to photograph a few of my uncles and grandma, and it's done quite a good job in low light (almost all the shots were taken at F4, 1/8 sec).

Gotta love that leaf shutter.

Here are a few shots.

I'm almost shy to post my Ljubitel photos here, but it's definitely MF (my only problem with it - it's very hard to focus - looking for any (almost $0) solution)

Here are some older work, shot with the Fuji GA645W. I finally learned how to post pictures properly on this forum now!

I got my Fuji GS645S today, loaded a test roll of Neopan 400 and the neg's are screaming "love me like a man" at me.

I have the slight feeling that the Fujinon W 60mm f4 is slightly better than the (very good) Yashinon of my Yashica TLRs (at f4 that is).
