Oops. I just kept them off by default. They're on now. 🙂

What time will you guys be getting together and where? I'll try to make it if it's late enough in the day, but I generally work until around 6 or 7ish, depending on the crisis of the day. 😉

So far, BJ, artz and I are free both days. Derek, I guess you get to pick the day!

I normally work until 4 PM but can rearrange my schedule. Tuesday would be nice for me as Wednesday nigths are my usual goth nights at the club (unless you guys want to go there too!) but it only starts at 10 PM.

Also, what kind of gathering would you like? Shooting, having a beer, having dinner, etc. Do you have a location in mind?

I'm on the Plateau so anywhere there or downtown is easy for me.

I'm good for anytime, anywhere, really. I don't know much of the island, but I do know how to get to the corner of Mont-Royal and St Denis, or to the Quartier Chinois. I'm also reasonably handy at using the Metro.

I was thinking we should do a bit of street, and maybe some cityscape stuff. I like the back alleys myself, but I won't go into the alleys around St Catherine Street by myself. Up around St Denis, it's pretty tame. Afterwards, we have some beers, compare equipment, talk cameras and photography, gossip about other forum members (what do you want to know about Joe? 😉 )

St-Denis and Mont-Royal is 4 blocks from my place so I love it! 😉 The back alleys on the Plateau are usually very nice wih lots of fun things to discover. They're not opened dumpsters likt hose found downtown. It's also a very typical area of Montreal. That area is also excellent to find a nice place to have a beer and chat.

So, I suggest Tuesday around 4 PM (to have some decent light for a while since the sun should set around 7:30 PM) at the Mont-Royal Metro station, by the tourist info booth outside. How does that sound?

Marc, sounds great.

I can make it after 6, so if you guys just let me know where you'll wander off to, then I can meet you there. I'll be coming right after work so I expect to be bleary-eyed and pining for a drink (or two, or...).

I love the Plateau, I love St Denis, I love St Laurent. I'm envious and wish I could be sitting in.

Maybe we should think about a Bi Municipal (Montreal-Toronto) RF Fest #1 for 2006? Get some of the Toronto crowd and some of the Montreal crowd and visit each city respectively. Do some afternoon shooting and then go out for some food and tasty adult beverages of choice. Maybe even pair up a M/T and T/M pairing and go around eachothers respective town and show what some of your shots were about or interesting places to shoot? Probably could find some reasonable off downtown accomodation close to a Metro/Subway and leave the cars parked.

It could be planned around a summer event that occurs in each city to keep the interest up after / during the shooting.

Any interest even if it is tentative for one day only in the summer 2006?

Jan, that's a great idea. There is a lot of interesting events happening in Montreal in the summer: Jazzfest is one example, Just For Laughs festival, etc...

I'd be up for such a Toronto-Montreal RFF get-together. I visit Toronto at least once a month anyway.

Why don't we organize something like that, really?! 🙂

I think it would work. Not enough time in 2005 but by summer 2006 there will be.

a little separate thread now to get it up on the 'board' with discussion as people sign on.

Good. I'll PM you my cell number so you can reach us.

Jan: great idea. I just hope my schedule isn't too crazy when this happens. We'll see.

Hi Marc,

I have an alterior motive. I want to rent a room with a kitchen and then cook everything I buy at the Jean Talon market! LOL

Yes I think it could be a lot of fun if pulled off correctly. We have plenty of lead time.
