My Canon P suddenly got a hole in its metal shutter curtain. Don't think that it can only happen in cloth curtains. I got back negatives and sldies with a shiny area on each frame, and I then tested the Leica M3 and M6 first for the pinholes, but it was one of my Canon P cameras.

I just wanted you to know that it can happen to a metal shutter curtain too.

Since it's unlikely that stainless steel shutter curtains are still being made, will you try to patch it up yourself, or try to get new cloth curtains?

I got a tip at RFF to use liquicdelectician's tape and apply it with a toothpick. It costs about $7 at Loewe's. I applied three times some of this black liquid on the hole. It seems to be fine now.

Was the curtain crinkled? I've read that the stainless steel curtains can get crinkles in them and a hole could develop.

Good to know the rubber trick works on them too. I've never had this with Nikon Titanium shutter curtains, or a Canon stainless steel curtain.

Gosh! 😱 Even in metal curtains? I wonder is this applies to the modern multi leafed curtains like in the Bessa R3a and the likes of the F2 with titanium curtains?

My Canon P was light tight for many years, but a hole appeared suddenly. I lost two rolls of film this way.

Brian,
The liquid electric tape [rubber] is sticky and it stays on the metal curtains. I used several very thin layers, and over several hours apart yesterday. A fix at the cost of $7 is not bad at all.
