On the other hand, with no practice and no training and horrible negatives to work with, an Epson 4990 is doing just fine for my needs at the moment.
I looked. I'm primarily a large-format shooter, but I do shoot a lot of 35mm too, and some medium format, so I have been very curious about this scanner for a long time. I was originally looking at the 1800f. Then when it was discontinued and quickly unavailable, I waited for the replacement, M1. Meanwhile, I read some favorable reviews of the i900, and then someone gave me one (i900) in trade for processing a bunch of negatives. Otherwise I'd be looking at buying an M1. Even so, I might upgrade to the M1- and this review was helpful. So thanks for posting this.venchka said:2 years of frantic fingers bashing keyboards over the anticipated Microtek M1 scanner. The thing finally arrives. One person writes a review of the product. Nobody even bothers to look.
What's up with that? 😱
