Migraine seems to aflict photographers particularly as well as other creative types,...Mine is now under control to the extent that i do not use any medication at all,..However, it needs great care to avoid this horror.
As several of you have noted, diet plays a big part,....notable triggers are chocolate, alchohol, cheese (just LOVE a good Cheddar!!) very spicy food particularly curry, and some of the more exotic cooking oils and essences.
Ways to help advoidance;.....The herb 'feverfew',...can be grown in the garden (northern Europe)...consume one lsmall leaf daily for three months then adjust for advoidance,...I used t o throw a leaf from the garden between two slices of bread when leaving the cottage.
Eat at least three slices brown bread daily as this is excellent at cleaning the gut,..this precaution alone can work for some sufferers. Jasmine tea instead of that coffee!
Early warning signs which may be useful;....visual phenomena ie., 'tails' on lights,..unlikely colours,..loss of central vision area,...'jazzy' break-up with psychadelic colours!! Cold saliva or tongue,..this is the first signal for me.
