I would agree with you, except the syndicated services paragraphs seems to go beyond that:

That, I believe, relates to content distribution networks and the like that powers the services that these sites provide.

It sounds nefarious, but it isn't. IANAL, but this is my understanding of how these rights work out.

You're probably right. I've slowly started posting some images there.

Although the legal discussion is interesting, I've decided to focus my attention on making images that people will want to steal.

I have been using G+ very differently from, say, facebook. facebook I use to keep in touch with friends and family, period--I don't friend anyone whom I don't actually know. Whereas G+ I am keeping public--using it as kind of a microblog or enhanced version of twitter. It's an open forum on the work I and my peers do. (I mostly post about literature and writing.) And it's nice to think I could integrate my photography with that. Anyway, we'll see how it goes.

I just did not like the page layout.

I'll be sticking with Flickr for the time being.

It seems 500px is lacking a group-function too. That makes finding interesting photos not so easy. It seems that it's completely built around the idea of rating a photo. I just want to have a place for my photo and not a continuous competition.

In both 500px and G+ (thanks for the invite, John [mabelsound]) photo albums, you can't specify tags for the whole set without having to do it one photo at a time ??

Just a note on the posted link for the blog article concerning Google+'s ToS, make sure to check out the links in the comments. Apparently the blogger mentioned in this thread willingly omitted some important parts. This petapixel article has some good points and references for the issues.

On a personal note, I'm not totally impressed by google+'s picture layout and interactive features. Once you are in "theater" mode or whatever that is called on their site, it looks like a rip of nexGen for wordpress sites. The initial layout is interesting but not enough for me to advocate or indulge in migration from flickr. Flickr just does something for me I cannot find in other sites and it does it without the usual petty social interactions that happen in facebook, myspace, google+, etc.
