If the chicken is that sharp, how sharp would be the cat?
releasing a fixed lens camera with a maximum aperture of 3.5, nowadays, in that price range.. would be insane.
Since when has Leica's pricing ever been sane?

Why don't you just wait until the 11th? Like it..buy it. Hate it, buy what you want?
Don't have the money for a new Leica camera? Join the club. If you do have the money, buy one, take care of it and maybe I can get it when yours depreciates to my riff-raff level.

Cameras have become so good that nobody really needs a camera from a specific brand anymore. A good strategy is to use what you have.

Totally agree.

I respectfully disagree in language only...I use what I love to use. It happens to be Leica. No one NEEDS a camera unless it is a tool for their work, be it artistic or paid professional work-related. Like Raid said, buy anything you want out there...plenty to make everyone happy...er..reasonably anyway. I am looking forward to the so-called "mini-Leica". I happen to like their products.
So, I choose Leica. I do not whine and bitch about Leica prices or what they do. It is what it is and I cannot afford new Leica products. Those who like to whine and bitch are disrespectful not only to the good folks at Leica but those like me who enjoy their products and there are a lot of folks like that on RFF.
Again, anyone doesn't like Leica products? Great...buy something else. Anyone doesn't like their prices? Tough, life is like that. Try strapping on a half million dollars in medical bills with touch and go life/death decisions everyday and it just might make the Leica-bitching so trivial that it may go away for those who like to do so.

I do not accept your premise that being critical of, or disappointed with, Leica (or any manufacturer) is disrespectful to Leica or to those who own their products.
It is possible to express criticism and disappointment disrespectfully. The greater the disappointment, the less respectful people tend to be. Of course some are never disrespectful... and they have my admiration.
The release of a new product is trivial compared to the trauma and stress associated with ill health. This goes to Raid's point which is similar to yours... be happy and productive with what you have. Right now this is more practical than ever for photographers.

That is where we absolutely disagree. Enjoy your life and let others enjoy theirs.

Photo is taken at f4 or above (assuming equiv focal length of 35-50mm).
If you cannt see that don't worry about buying another camera
And I doubt he looked through a viewfinder.

Tick... tick... tick... Just three days to go.
I think I'll shut down the network and get out the scanner now. Three rolls of film from the Hasselblad to scan. Oh, and the new bicycle arrives on Monday.
That should keep me occupied.

Why?
Why?
But why would anyone buy this instead of the X-E1 with kit lens?
Surely Leica is not expecting this to take up the extra production capacity of the new factory in Wetzlar?
Apparently the X1/X2 sold/is selling poorly. Why would this sell more?
Leica would have done better to resurrect the Digilux 2 body/lens and stick a bigger sensor in there.
Hope I am wrong and it will sell like spin coming from our politicians.
