The best camera is one that still works!
After reading the comments about picasa 3 I checked it out. Looks very useful for something free! There is a very good youtube intro to the software's capabilities which is definitely worth a look! http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=rskC6c_5L1M

Picassa, intuative, simple, good results, easy import/export and easy web posting. Oh, it's free as well.

I'm frankly surprised by all the responses and options available.
I guess I'm not the only one who likes keeping it simple.
Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone!

Another vote for Irfanview. Doesn't get much more basic than that. It can also read nearly every photo format out there, except RAW. It also doubles as a much more functional viewer program than staring at small thumbnails.
And it's always been free!

Picasso- As scan I have Picasso open and use it to quickly determine keepers and losers (I scan a whole 6 neg strip at one time). Picasso also allows you to easily edit the basics (contrast, brightness, etc) and print. Also organizes nicely and is free, free, free. Used to use to ACD but like Picasso better.

Anyone using the new mac version of Picassa?
Wondering if I should replace iView Media Pro (pre Microsoft version, sort of like pre Asph) with it. I like iView well enough feature wise, it's just not that intuitive.
Does Picasso work with .psd files? I'm weeding out all my TIFs and Jpegs and trying to just store one psd version of all my scans and just create one offs for the web and print rather than storing.
