minolta auto spot 1 degree meter

I was hoping to learn some information from those of you that are familiar with this meter. I recently purchased a working example at a local thrift store. Having researched the Internet for information, I read reference to the lens being focusable like a camera lens, however my does not. The lens is locked on solid. It seems to work fine this way. So, do these meters have focusable lenses or is the internet lying to me again? :bang:

Buy the way, this meter is the original 1968 version.

The lens on mine positively is focusable. Other than being as hefty as a 16mm cine camera, it is a very nice and accurate meter.

Have you tried both front and back? I know nothing about that meter, but sometimes optical things like that focus from the rear rather than the front.

It looks like a largish Super 8 camera, with a very obvious lens on front, complete with focusing scale (but without aperture ring). That is, the focusing is hard or even impossible to miss - if the helicoid does not move, it is stuck, and will probably have dried up/gummed up.

The rear eye piece is adjustable for dioptic but the front lens should be able to focus on your subject. This meter appears to have taken a hit to the lens filter ring. It has apparently jammed the lens in place.

I will disassemble this meter as soon as I have time. It shouldn't be too difficult, it's built like a camera.

Mine does not have a scale in the lens so it was not obvious that it was meant to focus.
