Minolta Body Converted To Nikon Mount?

Here one can see that at least one specimen of a «Nikon F2 body custom converted to Leica R mount» exists.

Hm. I suppose that a Minolta SR-7 having a Nikon mount would be very VERY nice, and a very useful thing, too. — Well, I also like the Leicaflex Standard … 🙂

Can anyone please tell me if it may be possible what I have in mind?
 
As long as the flange focal distance of the lens you want to adapt is longer than the native lens, it's usually possible to buy an adapter.

The SR mount is 43.50 mm and the Nikon F mount is 46.5. So the Nikon will focus to infinity on an SR mount body with the proper adapter. If you can't find an adapter, you can always replace the SR mount on the body with an F mount, and 3mm of shims. You'll lose auto-aperture capability, but you'd probably lose that anyway with most adapters.
 
I would like to have a Nikon F2 converted to the Minolta MC mount to use my collection of fine Rokkor lenses.

I find that the Rokkor lenses come closest to giving me that " classic German lens look" to my photos amongst all the many different manufacturers of lenses in Japan.

( I am sure someone will say "just buy a Minolta XK body" then.)
 
My neighbor did Minolta to Leica R for wedding works decades back. He wanted double exposure capability.

I have no details.
 
Kinda off topic but the Chinese used to make this crazy Nikon F2 clone in the 1970s, with Minolta MD mount.

The 58/2 lens is obviously a Helios-44 clone, which itself is derived from the Biotar. The entire mix has a weird sense of humor.

The body on that camera looks very Minolta SRT like but with a Nikon F style pentaprism.

Very interesting! IIRC, I've sean that camera in Douglas St. Denny's «Cameras of the People s Republic of China».

Just buy a minolta XK body.

As a Nikon fan, i must admit Minolta have fantastic camera bodies. The oposite should be done (F lens to Minolta body).

I have always heard that Nikon SLR pro bodies from the golden era are the cat's meow.

I never owned a Nikon SLR and I only have my favourite Nikon product and that is the S2 rangefinder camera. Although truth be told, I been lusting over a Nikon SP since I was a kid,...well ever since I seen Bob Dylan's
Highway 61 Revisited album cover. 🙂

(That must have been 50 years ago that I first seen that LP cover .)

This is closer to my sentiments. I especially like Minolta/Rokkor lenses and, while I like Minolta bodies, the early Nikon F, F2, and F3 always had a special appeal to me.

You are mostly correct.

Just an idea that passed through my mind for using my Rokkor lenses on the now very affordable Nikon F2 camera bodies.

Right. Why not an overhauled SRT? I owned Nikons and now I'm back to SRT's. If you want some firepower and something rare buy an SRM
 
Not trying to rain on the parade above, there was some general interest in the idea expressed, making me wonder if I'd overlooked some aspect of it blindingly obvious to everyone else. 😉 I've only run a dozen or so films through my SRT101s but I like the Rokkor lenses and I think the bodies are attractively styled and very competent. As has been noted, they're a good solution.

I'm glad that so many of you agree with me
a) that Minolta glass is very fine, and that also many of you agree with me
b) that Minolta bodies are very fine.

And no one mentioned CANON so far! 😉

Hm. Adapting Minolta SR-lenses on a Canon F-1? There's still some 1.5mm of space, well, and the Canon breech lock's throat is very wide, should be doable I guess?
