Minolta CLE CLA, Where?

Sherry Krauter at Golden Touch did the overhaul and meter replacement on my CL. It took a while, but worked like new afterward.

A CL is a very different critter from a CLE, no commonality... CLE is more related I think to Minolta SLRs of the time.

I had my done at Steve's Camera in Culver City, CA. I do not recall the fee. I think it was $250-275. Very pleased with the service.

Brian, it would be great to post here any success with other inquiries. Many people express nervousness about the electronic dependency of the CLE, so having a good reliable repair source would be reassuring. :)

The only trouble I've had with my two CLE bodies is mechanical in nature, ironically, with dirt getting under the shutter speed dial and fouling the switch contacts. An easy fix. A CLA and RF alignment should be straightforward too.

Before he retired, my local camera repair tech said that it appeared there were no integrated circuits in the CLE, so it would theoretically be possible to replace individual electronic components if any should fail.

Ok so here are those who will at least CLA the CLE:

KEH in Atlanta GA
Bob at precision camera works in Chicago
TLC camera repair in high point NC
Precision camera & audio in Austin TX

KEH was the cheapest. Both KEH and Bob said parts are no longer available but CLA was possible as long as no parts are necessary.

I happen to have a CLE needing some service too.

Just to make sure: KEH does have other options other than the flat rates, so that I would not end up with paying $205 just for RF alignment right?

Thanks.

That's correct. This is something that KEH just started doing recently. I used to be able to get an exact quote for a RF alignment. I believe they would call you with a quote before they do the work. I still haven't send my camera out yet as it is working perfectly fine for now.

No, they did not repair anything for me so far. But I visited them and I talked to the owner about the stiff take up spool of my Minolta XD7. Actually he recommended against a repair.
I would say they are honest and know what they are doing. I would not hesitate to use them.

Thanks again for your help. Aditionally, they also repair old Voigtländer and Zeiss Ikon cameras; this is very good news for me, as I have quite a number and a few surely need some attention to return them back into full working order.
