Hello everyone! I have recently come across a Minolta cle with all the electronics and everything working great except for one little bit. The previous owner somehow lost just the rewind lever and screw attaching it to the inside post. When I got the camera the door was stuck
shut which was luckily holding all the internal bits of the rewind mechanism inside.

For the past few days I have been trying to find any info on how and where to replace this piece. I was hoping I could find a cheap body and take the rewind crank off and screw it on there but so far none have worked. Although I will try one from a Minolta x700 soon.

So does anyone have any info on this piece?
Good replacements/ where to get them/ price.
I don't care if it's uniform or how it looks. I'm more interested in using the camera than collecting. So knobs from different brands bodies etc.. are all welcome suggestions.

I would hate to part out a working CLE because of such a small problem and am hoping someone can point me in a good direction.

Oh and I am located in Tokyo so hopefully that opens up some more resources.

Thanks! Hope my first post here goes over well!

Hey, welcome, I don't know one that would fit, but there's got to be a spare rewind floating around in Tokyo. Have you asked around in a few shops? Repair shops?

Hey thanks for the reply!

I have asked around a few places and am going to go around to some more repair shops this weekend.

Right now I'm looking for any shops that may repair the CLE (many don't) so would you have any suggestion? Actually it would be great to get some info for repair people in the states as well.

What is the average price of a parts CLE outside of eBay?

Hell if I know, jonmanjiro is in Japan I think, hopefully he'll see this, or other members there will. I would think you are in the highest concentration of CLE rewind levers on the planet right now.

we have a cle expert...a member here...he usually answers when he sees cle in the subject area...my mind is blank atm as to his name...joel?

Hrmmm I suppose this is the place to find the parts.

That would be great if they jump in here with some wisdom about the CLE I have never used one so some tips would be great too! I luckily do already have the 40mm m rokkor to throw on there once it's fixed.

One of my main questions is, does the knob itself have the screw going into the post or is it two pieces the post and the screw? I may have a lead on where to get the knob but don't want to get It if it's missing a screw.

Some pictures of any cle owners cameras with the crank flipped out would be great! To get
Some idea of the parts involved and how it works!

I don't know about the CLE, but I've never seen a camera that had the knob and screw the same piece, the screw has always been seperate. I would buy the knob without the screw, depending on the price, as that's the hard part to get...2c

You might try a place called 'Kanto Camera'.

Unfortunately Bellamy would tell you that the CLE is unrepairable. I know, because a few months ago I was looking for a cheap M-mount camera with AE and I asked him about the CLE. He advised me to get a Bessa R2A instead. Even Kanto Camera cannot repair the CLE, and they can repair most things.

Edit: here's Bellamy's reply > "The CLE is unrepairable, basically a brick if it dies, and it will. The CL is repairable, but the prices are daft and many of them come with a dead meter. Much better off getting a Bessa."
You could try a rewind from an XG 1 or 7, there's a lot of dead ones.

There is also this repairman mentioned at the end of that thread..

Haha yeah I saw that and I think am the only watcher on it. I messaged and asked for pictures of the bottom side and with the lever flipped or just info about how it screws onto the post but no response as of yet...

Looking foreword to those photos!

Yeah I think I will buy the knob and hope for the best. Then just look for a screw at the hardware store and cut it down to size. Do you think that would work or is there some special threaded screw attaching it?? I have tried other screws but they won't take in there although they seem to be the correct size.

Ahhh yes I did actually e mail Bellamy through his website and he told me to check at kanto. I will probably head there this weekend; if they don't have the part it's still worth the ride there!! The place looks great!

I did stumble upon that repairman as well but for now I'm holding out hope for this piece.... I would love a bessa r3a for my 40mm haha.

Perhaps this will help:

Hey thanks for the pictures they helped a lot!

So I ordered the piece from eBay as it comes with the screw. So now let's hope the rewind piece isn't stripped haha.

I will also make a list of parts that go into the rewind crank and how to put it all together once I do it so anyone else with trouble on that part can fix it.

I have been reading up on the CLE and am really surprised how few were made abut how popular they are. You hear the repair manual is very rare and thick too. Does anyone here have one? Just out of curiosity.
