I have a minolta Diamage Scan Multi SCSI that I use and unfortunately, the old Pentium 2 PC is acting up that I use with the scanner (I hate PC!) and I am wondering if I can hook the scanner up to my 24" IMAC using a SCSI USB adapter and get newer drivers to make it work. I am running OS X 10.5.8 . I really want a minimum of space taken up and would love just to connect the scanner to my much more reliable 24" IMAC. Anyone attempt this?

I have not found a SCSI-USB adapter that works with non-drive devices. Reason seems to be that the adapter drivers do not support extended commands that are required for these devices. That's also the reason why the SCSI only film scanners are that cheap on the used marked, I guess.

Yeh, I thought so. I may have a spare PC and could throw something together. I just wish the operating system was as stable as my Mac. Once I changed to Mac there was no turning back for me (I lost files, had the virus problems, and system instability caused by the operating system as well as conflicting hardware issues. It ALL went away when I went for the Mac!).

I do have a Powermac G4 Dual (1ghz) my daughter uses. Maybe she can let me hook up the scanner to that once in a while?
