Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro vs Nikon 8000ed

Recently been offering a Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro for $1000, this is a bargain IMO, btw, I has been using my Nikon 8000ed for a year, I am satisfied with its performance, except for the scanning speed... Had heard about the Minolta one is doing a great job from Kenrockwell.com, and had the far better film strips than the Nikon.
So would anyone please advice me whether to sell my Nikon and get the Minolta instead? Thanks!
 
I'd get the Minolta first and try it. The 8000 has been inching up in price, and I'd expect the price to eventually climb over $2000. I'd hold onto it until you're certain the Minolta will do it better.
 
I have been very happy with my MultiPro for about 8 years. I have many friends with Nikon 8000/9000s. I cannot tell any difference in the output quality of one vs. another. I could never suggest anyone switch from one to another.

I have been a Vuescan user for longer than I have had the MultiPro so I have never had to worry about manufacturers software support.

Keep in mind that MultiPro replacement bulbs are no longer available from any source. So when the bulb goes, it becomes worthless.

Now I must to concentrate on my Nikon 8000ed since the offer had gone.
Maybe this is the best moment for me to think about whether to keep my Nikon, like 250swb and Bob said, the unavailability for the maintenance of MultiPro is quite a problem, until the next best offer come up!
So I'll keep it to me, and thank you again!
 
I sold my MultiPro about a year ago and replaced with LS9000 because of the very issue Bob raised about the bulb no longer being available- I had even tried contacting Japan, to no avail. While I thought the MultiPro was a great scanner, I wanted to prolong the inevitable as long as possible.

Minolta support is almost dead, so I think it's better to invest around $ or EUR 1000 in a scanner that can be repaired if something goes wrong (scanner like these are really really old and delicate and it's very easy that they have to get cleaned or repaired).

I'm a Canon user but I think that Nikon is a great company with good support, you can find Nikon support in your country and they should have spare parts for a Coolscan 8000 (it's a supported product).

With a Minolta scanner it's not the same....no support in your country, high delivery cost and no spare parts.

I agree, the result is the same so why buy a Minolta?!
