The last installment in my test of P&S cameras with a 35mm lens. Only had the four models to choose from, but have since picked up a couple more. I believe that I'll stop at this point though, from what I have seen of the results.
It looks like the Olympus Stylus is the clear winner of this group, but since mine is a bit beat up, I would like to eventually get a Stylus Epic. I do have the Epic Zoom 170, but was not impressed with it's auto-focusing performance over the weekend. And even with 400 speed film, the flash was operating way more than it should have, unless it has a really slow lens. And I came close a couple of times of damaging the flash, as it sticks out at a wierd angle.
But this is about the Minolta, so here is a photo of the test subject

You can see it's had it's knocks, and I had to repair the body panels that had gotten whacked out of place. It's kind of a so-so performer though

This was not quite the kind of test you would see in the magazines, as they would have taken all four cameras out to take the same shots at the same time. This is not really a one-to-one comparison, but I think from the photos I have selected, you can get an idea as to which ones are the performers, and which ones are the also rans. And as I'm not a big fan of indoor flash with 400 speed film, I didn't bother to purposely get those type of photos.
This was kind of fun, but my other cameras are asking when their turn is.
