Hi all

I recently inherited a bag of old film cameras. I have a family wedding coming up and plan to shoot a few rolls with one of the cameras to give to the bride as a sentimental keep sake, some pictures taken on her grandfathers camera because he cant be there.

Unfortunately, the cameras weren't kept in the best conditions and were coated in dirt. The most salvageable was a Minolta Hi-Matic AF (original not the AF2 model). I have since cleaned it and replaced the light seal. Still need to the the top plate off to five the rangefinder glass a clean from the inside. The good news is that it has some life in it, it seems to be firing after putting some batteries in .

What I was wondering is, does anyone have a user guide for this camera? Or any tips on how to use it? I can only find guides online for the AF2 model. I am most interested in what the 'Focus Lock' button does - I am guessing that you press the shutter half way and then this button down to lock the focus to recompose?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

James

This may be a dumb question - does the camera have any form of focus indication in the viewfinder? If so, try focussing on something at a known distance, press focus lock and then move away and release the shutter. if indication stays at your known distance, you will know it works this way.
