I just found a real nice Minolta and case for 15 bucks. The shutter didn't work but the meter did. I was able to get it apart and clean the sticky shutter up and now it works fine.

I didn't have the right battery so I used the 1.5 alkaline equivalent. Do I need to adjust the ISO up or down to compensate? I loaded it up with 400 speed Tri-X.

If you find the meter reads slightly bright or dim you can adjust the ASA rating when you set the meter to compensate for it. I forget if you would need to go up or down.

Which Himatic do you have?

I won a Hi-Matic 11 that was goofed up. I got it working on and off and think the problem may be in the meter and not the aperture. I may use it as a test platform for black paint. Thanks for the Himatic 9 info, I may get one of those also to work with. I just lost a bid on the 7sII.

The 7S is very good. It has a very contrasty and sharp lens. But I sold mine because it is too heavy and the shutter is too tight. I still have a 7SII. It is better in all respects. But I think the lenses on both cameras are the same.

Do not use the self timer unless you are ready to have a dead camera or take the lens/ shutter apart. major problem with old 7S's. How do I know? :)
