Minolta lenses kick ass!

Sometimes I just need a few basic items. The SRT-100 was my first "good" SLR bought new; I was a budding newspaper photographer (I won a lot of Scholastic Press awards) in High School. This one is covered with Green Kangaroo skin from Cameraleather.

The SRT202 is the very last SRT, with Minolta Acute screen and it's the ultimate refinement of the SRT. Mine is covered with Griptac which has a really great feel to it, especially if my hands are wet..

TomA Softies (wonderful on the SRT), real Minolta Eyecups (light can leak into the eyepiece and throw the meter off), genuine Minolta filters and matching correct hoods, and the hairtie (my own bright idea!) complete the cameras. Got tired of out of focus pictures of the interior of my camera bags 🙂

I think that's the 58mm F1.4 MC & the 28mm F2.5 MC shown here; Both great lenses. With these two I can do quite a lot.

Which budget 28 should I go with? 2.8 or 3.5? Or go with the 35 2.8?

I have all three of those MC Rokkors, they are worthy of purchase and use.
Just don't pay much and make sure you get a good one. I also have the F2.5 28mm MC and it tends to be more expensive (but not always).
For available low light I like the 35mm F1.8 MC Rokkor. These are all great lenses to shoot with and use. Minolta did not really make a bad lens that I am aware of. The 35mm F1.8 replaced the Canon 35mm F2 RF, and the 35mm F2 Leitz Summicron. The 35mm F2.8 MC replaced my Leitz Summaron. Now I don't miss them at all.

John Titterington has overhauled my MC Rokkors (average price $20-$30) and only takes a few days which is good as it gets.
The front and rear groups simply unscrew so are easy to clean if you are handy, but I won't mess with lens helicals and blades. I let John do that.
I would say whether you buy MC or MD will depend on what camera you are going to use it on, and what you can find cheaply. I have paid as little as $5 for nice Rokkors at swap meets, and for sticky lenses in camera shops. If they are sticky I send them to John. I send four or five lenses at a time to save on shipping. Imagine getting a Leica lens overhauled for $20 and getting it back to you in a few days! I got tired of spending megabucks for equipment and repairs, so I went back to Minolta which are part of my photo roots. Then I sold everything and put the money back in the bank. And now I can afford their exotic rare items as well which fuels my collector side.

Interesting.

I'll have to get my 102 out of the bag and put some film through it. I haven't used it in over a year but was always very satisfied with the results when I did.

The idea of having a fire sale of all the rest of my equipment is very tempting. It would certainly save me an awful lot of money. I guess I should do a Minolta Only month or two to see if I can live without my Leica MA or my Zeiss Ikon, something I am a bit doubtful of.

My studio is still fully equipped. My Photographer friends say it looks more like a photo museum. 🙄 I could not bear to sell my Sinar Norma system, Broncolor lighting system, or my Plaubel Makiflex system. Actually I may sell the Hasselblad system, I utilize the Makiflexes more and they are a total blast to have and use. Leica and Canon RF are history. Minolta SRT fully fits my 35mm film needs and I don't feel limited at all.

I used to have an xd11, sadly I traded it for an Oly epic. Since then, I bought 2 at KEH and they both had electrical issues. The xd11 was one of the best cameras I have ever used. I am now on the hunt for an SRT something. I still have a lens. I love rokkor lenses

I use the Rokkor 28/2.8 M and the Rokkor 21/4. Both lenses are excellent overall. I have ab adapter for Rokkor-LTM for the 21mm lens. It is a non-retrofocus lens.

Ok, here we go. Bag with SRT 101 and 102 is out along with a few lenses I used to photograph softball a few years ago.

All my other cameras are put back in the drawer and the 101 has a roll of Fuji Superia for starters. There is fresh snow on the ground this morning but I am betting that I will start to see some flowers in a few days.

March is Minolta Month! (maybe I should start a thread) 😀

I'm thinking there's a body in that trunk !
😀

My younger son smiles when he sees this, too. He says there were only golf clubs in the trunk. The windows would not roll down. It was spewing oil and they barely made it to their seafood destination for dinner. He said "No doubt, concerning the car's history, there probably had been a body in there at one time or another". And then he laughed.

Borrowed from a Neighbor's friends' Used Car Lot. 😱
