long story short...left the house this afternoon in search of nikon diopters to try out on the x-pro1...
came home wit a like new, still in plastic screw in container...200/4.5 minolta lens that fits on my fujis with an adapter.
so i now have the 58/1.4 and 200/4.5...with a 35/135 in the mail...
i'm so glad that i wasn't going to do manual focus the fujis!!
anyone know this lens?

It's a good lens very capable of producing high quality images.. In the 200mm fixed range Minolta made the f/2.8, 3.5, 4, and 4.5. I'm currently using the f/3.5 version on my micro 4/3 gear but have used the f/4.5 and cannot see any difference between the 2..

I have the MC 200mm f4.5 and it's an excellent lens.
Are any optical elements needed in the adapter, to get infinity focus? This is interesting. I like Fuji cameras, and have some Minolta lenses...

i have a (cheap) rainbow adapter...but rarely shoot at infinity...the 58/1.4 seems to focus a bit beyond infinity and i imagine the 200 will as well.
the minolta lenses are for fun as the fuji af lenses are my main shooters.

OK, thanks Joe. Focusing beyond infinity is not as big a problem as not reaching it at all.

i hope i got that right...
shooting with the 200 is going to be a tripod action, i think.
my hands are a bit too shakey on their own.

For the most part you will need it tripod mounted but I have managed to get a few good ones handheld.
This image was shot handheld with the 200mm. It would have been better if tripod mounted though.
