Minolta SR-1 Shutter release issue?

Hey guys,I got this Minolta SLR awhile ago that previously has issues with the shutter speed selector being loose so I could not select slower speeds and use bulb mode at all but i managed to fix it after disassembling the top plate. Now there seems to be another issue that I wish to rectify. In the photos below,I have selected 1 second on the shutter speed dial and when I press the shutter release button, the mechanism does not activate the timer and mirror stays up until i release the button in which then the 1 second timer goes off and the mirror comes back down. So when I press it,the mirror goes up but the slow speed mechanism does not activate to drop back the mirror until i let go of the shutter release button. Any advice? I can't seem to find much on the SR-1 in general.

This only happens with the 1 second setting? What happens with B? And the other speeds (is 1/2 second actually 1 second, for instance)? What you describe sounds as if you have the dial off by one setting -- 1 second is actually B. Sorry if this sounds very simplistic, but I'm just wondering if things got set incorrectly when you put the top cover back on.

I should add -- congratulations on the fix you did already. These are nice cameras, really well made. Mine is one of the earlier versions, without the meter bracket. The 1/500 top speed is a minor drawback, and lack of a meter is not a problem. (Does your have the meter?)

The way I understand it is: you press the shutter button - first curtain starts travelling but I doesn't complete the cycle therefore the second curtain does not trigger the delay mechanism. The slow speed mechanism is triggered when you release the button.

If I remember correctly, the part of the mechanism that informs the mechanism that the first curtain has reached the end (and therefore the second curtain needs to start travelling) is concentric on the shutter drum that is below the speed selector. Depending on how much disassembling you did, you might have effected that. I will try to find a picture and update this post later.

I appreciate it,nope i have double checked and shutter selector dial is set correctly. Bulb works as intended but slow speeds don’t trigger the mechanism for the mirror to drop back. It is prominent in the 1/15th and lower speeds. The higher speeds all trigger as per normal.

Thank you sir! It was my first time trying to fiddle with SLR’s as i’m more used to working on rangefinders.
It did come with a meter but it was nonfunctional and the mount was broken 🙁 I still did use it as a full manual camera while my phone was used as a light meter haha

All i did was loosen the speed selector dial,adjust it so that it is in line with the actual speeds and then i tightened it back in place and it started working fine. Previously i guess it would “slip” or not snap into the desired speed(would be inbetween speeds). I will however check out those cogs and see if there’s anything out of the ordinary with them! It actually reminds me of the pad of death issue with Yashica Electros,after replacing the pad,the shutter release post and mechanism trigger post at the bottom might still need adjustments by loosening or tighten it to make sure both are timed the same and can be activated at all. Any thoughts?
