Hi, I'm looking at this Minolta XG-M for a relative to see if I can fix it. The film advance lever only goes half way and then stops dead, it can't go further. The shutter speed selector dial seems to be mostly stuck. A few minutes ago somehow I could turn it freely, but now its just stuck again. Its stuck on the orange "A" Auto setting. I don't know how that happened. I've added new batteries and taken the bottom cover of but I can't see any obvious problem. The film spool/sprocket spool seems to turn freely if I manually turn them with my fingers. No leds or light meter seems to react if I try to turn it on etc.
The shutter curtains seem fully closed and the mirror seems fully down.
Trying to turn the slot at the bottom of the camera directly under the film advance lever shaft, it only has some give of about 2mm either way, since its stuck.
I see from reading it needs batteries to work, and I've read of broken capacitors etc, so the problem is possibly a broken electronic part?
Its not a big deal if I can't fix it, but I wonder if there's any other simple things I can try before I give up.
