Minolta XK owners: question

Could a Minolta XK/XM/X1 owner please confirm if the light shield that the mirror contacts upon release, is loose and moves, or is fixed. This piece is seen at the front top of the mirror box with the lens removed. On my camera, this piece moves up when the mirror comes up, and slides down a bit when the mirror comes down. Is this what is supposed to happen, or is this piece loose on my camera?

It's supposed to be loose.

Warren's right, its supposed to be loose. I have read that some XK's have a fixed mirror bumper, but most have one that moves. The SRT-101 also has the moving mirror bumper.
