Does anyone here know anything about Minox EL shutters?

I have one and the shutter was erratic. I took it apart, cleaned it off with lighter fluid, then reassembled it.

Now it is not erratic at all. It simply doesn't open 😀

I think I probably put the leaves in backwards. Thank goodness that there are only two. I found a Minox 35 forum, but there are no repair images there, and most of the members just tell each other to send it to DAG.

Anybody?

The actuator that opens and closes the shutter actually works on my EL. Before I opened it up the shutter would open, sometimes. It appeared to be sticking.

I have heard that the Minox 35 line is prone to "stiction" if it sits unused for long periods of time.

Mine however appears to have had a bath at sometime in its history. There was rust here and there. It smelled "musty" inside, like brackish water. Not bad for a$16 dollar 'bay capture.

All in all, it was relatively easy to take apart the front lens assembly down to the shutter blades.

Next time I will use my digital camera to record my steps.
