Mint Canon P

serial numbers on the body and lens don't match those on the "original" box.

For $499, the package is still a good deal. But when there are inconsistencies in the auction, you begin to wonder what else is not as it seems.

i've been watching that one but only watching.

if i had 500 bucks i'd bid but i don't and i think it will go for a thousand, maybe more.

to be honest, one of my p's, the last one was mint when i bought it. all 3 have unwrinkled shutters, but this last body was pristine.
of course i scratched the top the day after i got it...

Since the camera is located in Florida, I wonder why he listed it on Canadian eBay...?

I've inquired about the condition of the finder, left out of the description. Many pictures, shutter works, but not one word about the finder. If it is good, I'll put in a bid.

identity of seller

identity of seller

There was a large batch of Canon lit sold by her a few months ago. She has sold a number of nice items, and identified herself as a collector. I would guess everything is pretty accurate in description. I didn't notice the serial number situation, but I'm not a bidder.
I agree that the serious bidders are sitting back watching. The action on this one will be in the last few minutes. I'll guess less than Joe, a final bid around $675-700. If it were all original and full mint, then around $1000. I like to use my stuff, so I'm getting away from the mint/boxed. Too much like Leica. What a waste of some beautiful equipment, sitting on shelves in closets. I knew a Dr that had a linen closet full of Leica cameras and lenses..... he used a Canon p/s to take real pics :bang: I guess we're all entitled.
Meanwhile, a very Happy New Year to all.

Well, If I get it .... It will get some use. The Mint Canon 7 gets a good number of rolls on it, and has been getting used to collimate and test lenses. Then the lens goes on a VI-T (user) or other Canon 7 for test shots.

But this Canon P is a nice one. We'll see about the finder, it was already packed for shipment.

my last p (i think i already mentioned this) was mint minus when it showed up here and i paid a lot less than the starting price on this auction.
that was body only.

but then i'm not interested in the box etc., like brian, i want to use this stuff.

Well, look at it's description:
A virtually pristine Canon P body and lens...A virtually pristine rear side...A virtually pristine top plate and lens...A virtually pristine bottom plate and lens...A virtually pristine open back and shutter.
So at least it is pristine, except for the box. 😎

My P was 350 USD with a fogged 1.8/50 which I sold for 100 USD, and a working meter. Very good if not excellent, except a few marks on top from the meter. Wrinkled curtain but very precise and quiet working. Very nice for a "user" camera... Of course not such a great "hump case" (the right one if the meter is mounted). For the box, well... I do store boxes from stuff I buy new, but to "show" them together with the cameras I would need a very big cabinet...! Mine is very dense equipped... 🙂

I guess this one will end at 650-700
