Love this picture... popped up again in a recent NBC article.
Actually TWO trigger wind Canons...
What are the lens and finder?

The finder appears to be a Leica 28 (SLOOZ) with the black rubber eye piece tip. The lens a Canon 28/2.8

The other looks like either a 50/1.8 or 35/2.8

I love the moment caught, winding the film/cocking the shutter, pre-visualizing the shot, and smoking a cigarette all at the same time.

Looking closer the camera he is holding is actually a Leica,
Who knows what model camera but that is a SYOOM/Leicavit

You're right on the Leica! Good eye--- the rounded corners give it away.
The Canon ('57-'58) is an interesting choice for '65. I bet he just liked having the trigger advances.
I like the coke bottles and the casualness of the moment (in what we know was not really a casual time!)

Completely and totally rad!!! Thanks for posting this.
I guess I can't say if that guy was a photojournalist (but why else would he have 2 bodies?), but this does make the case for smallllll photo journalist cameras. Can you imagine him walking around with a D5 & a 24-70/2.8? Might as well have a Speedgraphic for all that weight.
Sigh, maybe Nikon will make a digital SP variant or Fuji will finally go full frame.

V-series Canon don’t have a back door, it’s hinged. Plus as already pointed out, Canon’s don’t have round corners, Leica’s do.

I deleted it as I thought he was talking about the one hanging. Yes my VT has a hinged door.

Nowadays so many people are worried about how a tiny speck of dust would affect a photo. This working pro is not caring where his cigarette ash goes!..and smoking a cigarette all at the same time.

I dont think the lens is a canon 28mm 2.8 - its way too big maybe a serenar 28 3.5?

I am amazed that by 1965, the photographer was not under the Nikon F spell.
