Mmm...Big Bertha...

I love the 75's and 90's, I found the 90 just a bit too tight on the M8 and the 75 is the perfect compromise. 35 is as wide as I'l go and I prefer 75 over 50 for portraits.
So in other worlds, I'm incredible happy and satisfied.

I think that you made the right decision ! Only having the lenses / cameras somebody really uses (even if it is expensive) makes more sense than collecting ... And it made me thinking about my "collection" ... 🙄

The photo of the guitar player is good. I like this shot, too.

It's a little scary carrying such an expensive piece of glass that obviously attracts attention but I think it's worth it.

Congrats on your new toy. My first 75mm f1.4 canadian didn't focus well on my M8 and sold it. My second one focuses perfectly so I'm keeping it. I don't think country of origin makes the difference but this time it's a german one with late ser number.

Mine is a canada one and so far I don't notice any focus issues.
It's tricky to focus wide open but that's partly do to the magnification of the M8, a magnifier should take care of that but otherwise it's been smooth.
 
I like the biogon 35/2 you have on the way a lot! I would like to know though why you prefer the Lux 75/1.4 over the Cron 75/2? Is it just the extra f/stop? Or something about the signatures?
 
I love the Bokeh, the cron is an incredible lens, tack sharp...

But I love the extra stop, the bokeh, even the softness wide open. They're both top notch lenses but I love the smoothness and extra stop of the lux.
 
Nice... I am also looking for a 75 lux... Do you know of anyone selling it? I'm actually unloading both my M8s, so I can also offer some type of trade...

Deal, regarding sellers I just keep a close eye on the classifieds here, at the Leica User Forum and Photo.net and Ebay...eventually they turn up.

Just curious, why are you getting rid of the M8's?

I started out with a 21/35/75 combo... all CV lenses. The 35/75 combo worked great and always had the small CV21 in my pocket just in case I wanted to use it. Gas got the better of me though and I started buying more gear. However, even with the variety of gear I have now, I still take somewhat of a minimalist approach when I actually set out to do some shooting. I tend to use two bodies - an M3 with a 50 and my MP with a 35 and that's it. Often I think of selling all my other gear or at least stop buying more but I can't seem to do it.

To me, Big Bertha seems like a really nice alternative to the Bad Mutha (Noctilux) - I'm gassy for one now. I really like how that Big Bertha renders wide-open.

I checked out your work and wow!! Very impressive. Film or Digital, both outstanding tools to get the job done, it looks like you'll be making incredible images with either.
I think the 75lux would fit right in with what you're doing as well!

Love my 75 lux. I've paired it with the 35 cron IV - for the similarity of signature.
I added one of those 1.25 magnifiers immediately and have been very happy. It never leaves the camera. Makes focusing much easier with all my lenses.
