Hi, Moderator(s),

Could you tell us the best way to give Member Feedback after a sale...and then Sticky Post the instructions above the Forum Threads.

Specifically, please provide step-by-step procedures for both buyer and seller, for both scenarios shown below.

SCENARIO 1 (BUYER & SELLER): Classified Sales transaction has been completed, and the advertisement is STILL visible via the Classified pages.

SCENARIO 2 (BUYER & SELLER): Classified Sales transaction has been completed, but the advertisement is GONE from the Classified pages.

(If this is in RFF HELP or in a thread, tell us where please..and Sticky Post the instructions above the Forum Threads.)

I don't know who the moderators are...but we will be grateful for your guidance.

+1

I have a 139 positive on FM, 231 positive on e-bay (no negatives on either) and I can't seem to get any feedback points here for the few deals I've done ... because no one can figure out how to leave feedback.

Within the Classified section, click on the username of the member who you want to leave feedback for. You'll be redirected another page and on the left side, there will be a Feedback link. Click on that and you'll be able to leave feedback.

This only works if the advertisement is still on the Classified section. If it's no longer there, I'm not sure how to leave feedback.

It seems like this forum already uses some form of iTrader feedback system, but the way that it's integrated is not good. It is very confusing and there are much more user friendly methods.

Thanks, Wes,

A forum search on "feedback" reveals multiple threads about this same subject....so I think a "How To Give Feedback Guide" is in order.

...and maybe posted as a link on the left navigation column?

You do understand that if we tell you, then we'll have to kill you :D

Here's how I do it.

***keep in mind the database for the forum and the classifieds are not linked***

Find the user's id number
-search for the user in the forum membership or click on the actual user name in a PM you two have exchanged
-the address bar for that user profile will have the "uid" number
-copy the number
-plug it at the end of this URL:
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost-classifieds/member.php/uid/

For example, my classifieds profile page is:
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost-classifieds/member.php/uid/34274
Yours is:
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost-classifieds/member.php/uid/42809

and for the umpteenth time can i point out that the MODERATORS only enforce what the owner puts into place...that would be the rules and regs of the place and also the feedback system..

maybe ask HIM for an improved/easier system...and then we mods can help out with that.

It's only my opinion, but I think it's worth noting that I was only asking for clear instructions on how to work with the feedback system that we currently have.

...and then make those instructions available via a left nav link or a prominent sticky, so that RFF folks will be able to find it.

If I knew what are considered "the best" procedures, I'd be happy to prepare those instructions...for a link or sticky note.

Does Stephen really want threads directed at him? And, this is the first time I have read that Mods have no influence on whats done here.

Try this:

Step 1: click on CLASSIFIEDS on the top of the opening page.

You get the Classifieds main opening page, and a new bar with options.

Step 2: Click on "Member List".

You get a list of members with current and recent ads. Not all RFF members are listed: only those that have running ads, or recent ads.

Step 3: Find the person that listed the as, either though the list of names or the Search function. "Bill" brought up the person I was looking for.

Step 4: Click on the person's Name, get the PROFILE page.

Step 5: Click on FEEDBACK and leave the feedback.

"NO CLASSIFIED AD" Feedback Method - Use when classified ad no longer available.

"NO CLASSIFIED AD" Feedback Method - Use when classified ad no longer available.

.

NOTE: The "Classified Ad Method", shown by Brian above, only works when a member has an active Classified ad displayed.

METHOD TWO. The "No Classified Ad Method" below works when member no longer has an active classified ad displayed.

Step 1. Click on "Members List" navigation button in top navigation bar (instead of the "Classified" button).

Step 2. Search on member's UserID or name.

Step 3. View member's "simple profile" (that unfortunately has no link to "Feedback" when that member has no active ad).

Step 4. Read the URL in the browser address bar at top, and note that member's Numeric User ID" (u).

...for example, here is the "simple profile" URL address showing my 42809 number id:
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/member.php?u=42809

Step 5. Enter the member's numeric user ID (uid) at the end of this "classifieds profile" URL address

http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost-classifieds/member.php?uid=

...for example, here is the classifieds profile URL for my 42809 numeric uid:
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost-classifieds/member.php?uid=42809

Step 6. Hit enter on the new URL in the browser address bar, to view that member's "Classified Profile".

Step 7. Click link to "Feedback" to access Feedback interface.

Sorry, Stephen & mods, but the FB system just blows, big time. I do realize that it's integrated into the software that runs the forum, thus not easy to change. So, the next best thing is to provide clear instructions in a prominent location, which is all the OP was asking for.

I just operate as if it's a feature the website doesn't offer (since I can't find it). No problem.

Thanks, Mr. BatteryType.

I "think" that if they were to make a sticky of the "Classified Ad Method" posted by Brian Sweeney above, combined with the "No Classified Ad Method" that I just posted above...that it would cover all scenarios.

Of course...they would have to agree that an active approach to addressing the problem is better than the passive approach of the feedback thread.

I find that if you put "your feedback link" in your sig,it is always available to go to for buyers to find. SEE my Sig.... "My Feedback", takes you to the page you can leave feedback on.

I always read the Sellers Posts to RFF in the threads, and take the posts as a character reference. The number of posts made by the seller is in the ad, and can be easily searched looking at their profile page. User profile is found by entering their name in the member search function.

I'm with Brian on this one.

In the past, I've found using the "Feedback Thread" a bit unwieldy, but then I've been on RFF since before it seemed we needed to keep track of feedback (although my post count doesn't show it). I still feel that feedback data are superfluous on RFF, and that along with general confidence in the membership there are many other ways to evaluate a potential purchase/sale.

All that said, I've gone ahead and placed a link to my RFF Feedback in my sig. I thought that was a great idea, and thanks to those in this thread who have done the homework!

Cheers,
--joe.
