Modern Day HCB?

Just curious-

Are there any photographers out there these days that represent the philosophy of HCB?

Specifically, those that love form/geometry and getting that decisive moment --

Im always looking to discover new photographers and would love to hear everyone's recommendations --

There can and should be only one HCB. Everyone should create their own "philosophy". It makes the world a more interesting place.

Although I don't think HCB was god I have to admit that the first time I ever saw his photographs (only a few years ago) I was stunned. No other photographer's work has ever made such an impression on me ... and it has nothing to do with 'street' photography being his chosen genre.

The man had compositional skills that were indefinable IMO.

I don't think you are going to find a lot of HCB like photographers now as I think his style looks rather dated to modern eyes.

After Winogrand and Moriyama and probably dating back to William Klein who was almost contemporary with HCB (and in fact shot with some of Bresson's used cameras for his 54 New York stuff but slapped on a 28mm lens), street photography took a turn to much more in your face stuff with shorter focal lengths and much more crowded, chaotic framing.

I'm sure there are tons of people still shooting like HCB, but I think your more professional, contemporary street photographers have long ago moved on.

HCB often makes me think of Joseph Kessel.

There are no other, or new generation, Joseph Kessel. So I would tend to say, no, there is no other, or new generation, HCB.

Just as there are no other Mermoz or Saint Exupery.

These are different times, and it's the times that make the man. Henri was a product of revolution, civil-war and global conflict, all just at the time Picture Post was really popular too, lucky sod!

As others have said, he was a product of his time, and he was himself. Like all other photographers today, we live in other times, and are ourselves; cf BE YOURSELF - EVERYONE ELSE IS TAKEN.

Must be early, or I must be tired. I misread you as "Anyone can be a philosophy in the Interlobes." I kinda like it, actually...
