I have the CLE wideangle that I find is a nice budget alternative to an Elmar. Although it has some spots it seems sharp enough and it is fairly compact. The only problem is that it brings up the 35mm frames on my M6. It is not a big problem since the 28mm frames almost equates the full finder view, but I still find it annoying. I have found out that I would need to make one of the bayonet flanges longer to bring up the right frame, so filing won't do the job. I feel reluctant to glue something on since it might come loose and jam the mechanics. Does anyone have some kind of experience of a successful modification?

Cobble up a LTM adapter ring?
Edit for Todd😉: LTM-to-M, modify it to fit the lens and exchange with the original bajonet ring. Alternately: try and find a smashed Leica 28 lens and modify to use that mount.

I don't think an LTM adapter would work on an M mount lens 🙂.

I would just hold the frameline preview lever over to show the 28mm framelines when you need them for critical composition, otherwise the full frame is very close to 28mm on an M6 with .72 finder. You could also opt for an external finder, just remember that up close there is a parallax issue.

This simply isnt possible as the mount is threaded to form part of the focusing helix of the lens. Your rear lens elements would fall out!

totally wild idea

Why not just get a proper 28 lens made for your M6? You should have no problem selling your 28 CLE to CL/CLE users.

Once you start using it, you will learn very quickly how much area the lens covers in relation to the 35 framelines.
I go the other way: my VC 28/3.5 is on a 35/135 ltm/M ring to bring up only the 28 mm frame on a CLE.
On the M4-P, I frame overtight with the 35 lines and it works fine. You will adapt. 🙂

Thank You for all the replies!
As Joel said, I can't change the whole mounting ring since it has internal threads for focussing.
There are a couple of reasons I stick with the Rokkor instead of getting a "proper" lens for my M6. I lack proper cash for a proper german lens, I find the size/speed ratio of the Rokkor to be proper (the two CV 28's are either slow or huge). The Canon 28/2.8 is a little old and the Ricoh GR lens seem unobtainable, so I will probably just use the whole finder and sometimes a little help from the preview lever.

Or I am open to trading suggestions from all those who by mistake bought a Summicron 28 for their CLE...
