More CLE lens advice

ishpop, I would highly suggest the rokkor 40 as your first choice...I've been most satisfied with that one for "normal" use, over both voigtlander choices.

For protraiture again the rokkor 90 is wonderful, only bested by the leica 90 elmarit-m f2.8.

For wideangle, the rokkor 28 is the best deal, best size and best results unless you step up to the leica 28 summilux-m f2.0 asph, which is faster, sharper and only slightly larger. I still like the rokkor better than the voigtlander, although the latter is easier to find.

The original CLE package was indeed ahead of its time and its quality still stands out...I am sorry I cannot really express my enthusiasm!

I had written down a feww lenses I really liked from the RFF "best portrait lense" thread, but they were all 50mm, would it be much of a deal for me to go with a 50mm?

The Rokkor-M 40 does well for portraits, IMHO:

Bingley, those are great shots...yes the rokkor 40 is also quite a portrait lens, and much easier to focus than the 90. Great kit...

Dont forget about the 90 hexanon as good if not better than the above mentioned 90's

@Scott: The 28-40-90 kit is very versitile; I use 28-40-100 (Canon 100/3.5) on an M2 (50 too). I prefer the 90/100 focal length lenses for landscapes; for portraits, it's 40 or 50. Bottom line: I don't think you can go wrong w/ any of the 40s out there, and the Rokkor-M 40 for CLE is quite special, IMO.
 
I'm a devoted CLE shooter as well. What a great camera. I find I haven't been using my 90mm Elmar C on it as much as I used to. Anyone want it? Glass is mint. Comes with original hood and cap. $200?
 
Excellent price and a FINE lens.

A 25/4 CV combined with one of the three 40mm and this lens would be perfect. Small, sharp, does not get better.

If I had a M, I would pick this one up, but I've moved the the dark side (Nikon S3)......

Hey Joe,

I recently acquired the CLE and have no lens for it. Do you have any photos taken with your 90mm I could check out? It might be more sensible for me to start with a standard 40mm, but hey, I am open to trying different approaches, so maybe the 90mm would b fun for me. How hard is i to focus accurately?
