Thanks. The range of greys continues to blow me away with medium format. Can't seem to replicate that with digital B/W no matter what I try.

You did fill the format, I like them, also.

I don't think they're stitched. I think he used the pano option of the camera and shot on 35mm film.

Ah!
I'm new to the 7.
Why go for a smaller neg?
Do you use an physical insert? Nah - don't worry, it's not something I'd entertain.
Again, what's the point?

different types of film, more shots...maybe he only has a 35mm scanner (or a better one...) there are any number of reasons. But generally I would agree with you...

If he's looking for this aspect ratio, what's the point of exposing a 6x7 frame and then cropping out what he doesn't want? He ends up with the same size negative and has more film options, as someone else pointed out.

Well it's like having a 6x7 and a Xpan. You get 17 shots to a 36 roll and its fun to be restricted to the pano format and the quality is medium format. The adapter is only a hundred bucks and it gives you some extra film selection that might not be available in 120.
It is a physical mask insert.
BTW I have a 6x7 dedicated film scanner
There are lots of previous post detailing the adapter etc.

Just moved into a new house. Might be time for another wet darkroom after the best part of 20 years
Cheers John
