Note the shutter lock is gone, compared to the R2A / R3A. Apparently it proved unpopular.

The old style Voigtlander type style is well done on the top plate.

The black paint finish appears to the same as the gorgeous black paint Zeiss Ikon, produced in the same Cosina factory.

They removed the shutter lock? Personally I've never really liked the look of the shots I got from inside the camera bag when the shutter on my Bessa R fired because it didn't lock.

The shutter release looks a bit at risk, though similar as the R2. I have not had any troubles with my T, except when I had a soft release (who luckily(?) decided I was not a good owner anyway, so it left me), but judging from photos, the shutter looks better protected on the T.

Is the shutter release accidently tripping in the camera bag an issue on the R2?

The black R*M looks kind of nice, though I still find the short rangefinder base uncomfortable... 🙁

You want to buy a lense without even knowing what the images from it might look like? Okay I have to admit that if the images are similiar to the Heliar 3.5 then I too would be interested in only buying the lense.

I'd kind of like an R2M body, black paint, since I have a plethora of nice 50s already. I might be interested in splitting a set. Let's talk.

Then again, if I hear that the Heliar 50/2 is the best lens ever...

Would these cameras have collector's value ? I just got a present from the tax man and, despite the fact that the Bessa isn't my favourite RF, the other M mount bodies are a bit out of my range. I would get a black R3M with the 50/2 to see if I like it, if not, hand it over to a collector for megabucks 🙂 (or to one of you if you promise to use it until it's worn out, then have it maintained and do it again).

I have used quite a few lenses, and I can tell you for sure, 99% of the lenses are better lenses than Im a photographer. If the lens is nice, seems like fun to use and me having a good time using it, Im sure it will be a good buy.

I just ordered a Bessa R3M here in Germany.

Just because of the lens.

Yes you can buy a 5-elements classic Heliar type lens eyes closed.

Especially with f/2.0 speed. Never seen such a highspeed lens for a 35mm camera just made of 5 elements.

I just expect it can make pictures with f/2.0, no critical things. But at f/8...!! I just dreamed someone made the color-saturation of the famous Apo-Lanthar 4.5/105, the best high-performance Medium-format lens of the 50's, possble for 35mm film... searching for something like the holy grail...

shutter lock is gone because R*M doesn't require battery? To me the shutter lock is more like an "On-Off" switch .... anyway shutter lock is a great idea to me ....
