more than 36 frames on the hexar ?

hello,

i bought a used hexar rf (hence without user manual) and quite like it.

however, i get 39 frames per roll on an m2 but only 36 frames on the hexar. since films are getting more and more expansive, especially e6 ones which i like to shoot with this camera thanks to the meter, i wonder if there's any way that i can get more than 36 frames per roll.

i also own an hexar af. so the same question for that camera, too.

Sheer luck, Ulrich. I get different numbers of frames on different cameras. My AF Nikon SLRs may get 37 exposures per roll, while my Leicas will (some times) get 39. Do you tighten the film rolls before loading them? That may be the reason...

excuse me but what do you mean by saying "tighten the film rolls before loading them"?

i don't do anything special while loading a film. i just pull out the head of the film a bit so it can be reached by the loading mechanism.

i heard in some advanced electronic cameras, you could control things like whether or not to leave the head of film out while rewinding for example. i was hoping to hear the existence of an "economical mode" in the hexars.

The Hexar RF loads the film automatically, so the number of frames is pretty even, I always get 37 frames.

Also when you rewind, it stops a first time for a couple of seconds and if you open the back right away, the film leader stays out. If you dont, it rewinds the film completely.

I get 37 frames with my Konica Hexar AF all the time, less often 38 and a few times I got even 39 frames.

But I can't really tell why. Probably when loading just put enough of the tip in so that it loads.

I would be interested too in what tightening the film beforehand would change?
