Whenever I'm on a tripod it's all I can think about to keep from falling off. Too distracted to get any real thinking done.

Hah! You ain't even seen distraction. I suggest you try a monopod 😛

How can a Leica forum complain about Gitzo pricing? I've got a GT2541ex with an Arca Swiss Z1 and Really Right Stuff Lever Quick Release and it's among the best tools I've ever gotten. My next purchase is the GT1541T with a RRS BH25 LR - not as flexible but it will weigh next to nothing. The best camera and lens with shake is not worth much, you just can't hand hold everything.
