Movies with great cinematography

It's been mentioned perhaps once already, but I will second In The Mood For Love (2000), dir. Wong Kar-Wai. The rich colors, inventive reflective angles, and elegiac half-speed scenes of the film are simply superb.

Days of Heaven was already mentioned, but I also liked cinematography very much in "Thin Red Line".

Great suggestions and I agree with most of it. Two I liked that were not mentioned are Francoise Truffaut's The 400 Blows and Aki Kaurismäi's Le Havre. In La Havre, Timo Salminen, a contemporary Finnish cinematographer, was responsible for cinematography and in The 400 Blows, the cinematographer was the great Frenchman Henri Dacaë who, interestingly, worked as a photojournalist before becoming the most important cinematographer of the French New Wave.

I am a huge fan of Stanley Kubrick. I have DVD copies of all of his films.

I thought Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" (or however it's spelled) was strikingly filmed. The opening scene in the woods has some remarkable lens swirl, if nothing else.
