MP, 35mm, APX 100 & Volvo PV 544

I love those old Volvos! And Martin, that is a very good photo.

BTW, I was born in/near the black forest.

Me too...I'm nervous enough posting my pictures here.

I'm not surprised. Your digital shots are unlikely to be worth much. What you really need is a real Leica!. And, I'm afraid - that means film. If you're into horrendous crop factors, you probably like long focal lengths. Perfect! I have an M3 I would be willing to trade for your M8 (I have some more M's, so I wouldn't mind).

About a month or so ago, I had a brief chat with a guy who was picking up his daughter from the local public school, in a seriously clapped-out but generally intact example of said Volvo. But the engine sounded good, and the kid enthusiastically hopped into the passenger seat. I said, "Neat ol' Volvo you've got", and they both smiled.

Of course, the Volvo I really liked was the 122S/123S, but that's for another conversation. :)

good morning world,

thanks to all of you,
and Franks where was you born in germany?

The photo is a scan of a print and the paper is not my favorit one,
I use it for my work sheets.
Work sheets are the very first look on the negative strips.
When the photo is quite good I print it on a better photopaper.
A paper which fitts better to the subject, I have a huge arsenal of differernt papers, mostly foma. PE and Baryt, small and large.

Some photos need a lot of work finding the best tonal combination of paper and developer, but this is the deal with film, Leica and darkroom.

This is the same situation in color, shot with a ugly mobile camera.
You see there are realy less contrast and no shadows, so the b & w print is not so contrasty and eye catching, it is like it is.

Smashing car and nice shot, Martin. Shame others feel they have to belittle work that you're proud of. I'm going to get myself a roll of APX 100 and see what I can do with it.

To my sensibilities, Magus, RFF would be lighter in tone if your posts weren't so consistently sarcastic. But that's just my view, I'm sure. Martin clearly doesn't object.

it's an old story that we experience here...the written word has the ability to be completely misunderstood when it is only read. there is no way to understand the meaning, the intention, the intonation or voice used without interpretation. add to that any language translations that might occur and it only gets more confusing.
and unless you have read every post you are unable to know what has transpired between people online here, if they are friends ar barely can stand each other.
magus is highly opininated but usually quite fair and if you wait he usually explains himself well enough to understand his meanings.
and even though i can be percieved to be an overbearing censor to some i agree that a little lightening up would not hurt us at times.

I'l sleep on it...;)

I have my M6 but unfortunatly at this time I don't have the space or means to set up a darkroom to develop it, When that changes I will be using it a lot more.

I havn't set anything up because I have 14 days before I am moving to beautiful San Francisco, I am thinking I will set up something there.
