Mr. B - A friend is gone

Very sad news indeed and my sincere condolences Tom.

As others have said pets like this become such a big part of the family, those who've never had such a privilege will most probably never quite understand the bond they form. Our cat Puddie is 15 now, makes you think how mortal they are at such an age but yet only seems like yesterday when she was a kitten.

Thanks all of you. Mr B developed stomach cancer and though the experts said - "we can try chemo" we decided not to. Having gone through that myself - I would not have a pet go through it. How do you explain this to an animal?
Mr B was a constant companion, assisting with shipping Softies (chewing on the plastic bags), shredding the paper - He loved N.Y. Times Sunday edition. He also devoured any kind of flower that was accessible - and spent a fair bit of his 12 years with us trying to eat the fern in the kitchen!!!! We kept replacing the fern and in 24 hours he had reduced it to something in the "punk" category.
He also loved movies as that meant we would stay put in front of the TV while watching them.
OK, so one can now walk barefoot in the kitchen, without his scattered hard cat-food - and quite possibly - I have to do less spotting on negs - but I would trade that for having him back in an instant.
He was unique - and the only cat with his own Softrelease - how is that for posterity.

I am sorry to hear this news Tom. Indeed one of the most challenging aspects of having a pet endure illness is that we have no way of communicating with them other than through our presence, care, and physical affection.

Mr. B is a presence that endures here on RFF and I'm certain beyond.

All the best,

Mr B. - the most characterful cat on the web and I imagine even more so at home. My condolences to you both.

best, john

Wasn't his full name Mr Barnack? Sorry to hear about your loss, Tom...

One of my current lovable furballs is getting up in age. Even though he plays like a kitten... if we are confronted with the same choice you had, Tom, we probably would follow your lead.

Sorry about your loss...

oh dear. We are so SAD to hear this....
he was Quite Entertaining for US ALL
We will Miss Him... !!!
xoxo to Tom & Tuluikki

Mr. B was lucky to have such great companionship from both of you Tom and Tuulikki. Enjoy all of your great memories with him.

:(

I would have loved to meet Mr B in person. I'll have to wait another couple of years now.

I'm very sorry, my dear friends, he was an extraordinary cat and one of the most popular animals that I know of.

all the best

Tom, Tuulikki -

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. B. I know his last days were filled with pats and treats and lots of love. Hooray for him. May your sadness ease.

Pierce

I'm so sorry to hear about Mr. B. I lost my cat Happy last week; she had cancer also (liver). I thought it was great that he had his own soft release, but was disappointed they didn't fit my cameras.
