I was able to pick up one of these lenses used recently and have had some issues. I know this is a hand made lens and there may be some little quirks I have to deal with, but I want to make sure mine is normal.
The issue I have is that I cannot get mine to focus any closer than 5 feet or so when it should focus as close as 3 feet (0.8 meters) according to the scale. Has anyone else ran into this issue? Is the scale just not accurate and the lens cannot focus as close as advertised or am is my lens just not adjusted properly.
Thanks.
PS: yes, the lens is fully extended (properly) and the camera body focuses other lens fine...including fast lenses.

BTW the lens being extended/retracted makes no difference to the focus scale (it will affect whether or not the photos are in focus of course).
Thanks for the info... I think I'll send it back for adjustment. Yeah, I knew that, but figured someone (non-user) would ask.

I've owned four of these Perars. All of them focused from infinity to minimum focus without any problem. Sounds like your lens needs adjustment. I'd either return it or send it back to Miyazaki-san for adjustment.

Enjoy Life.
Mine focuses just fine through the range. You'll enjoy it once your copy is sorted out.
It'll get sent back tomorrow. It's ok, my M8 is in repair too right now and my other rangefinder doesn't have 35mm framelines. Had to test the Perar on my friends Leica.
I just wish the guy I bought it from was a little more honest about the condition. He says he only used it one afternoon and blah, blah, blah...
