Bokeh is subjective. Either you like the swirly bokeh, or it's your Petz peeve. 😀

I realise it was a small sample of photos but I am underwhelmed with the amount of Petzvalness swirly bokeh at full bore in the examples.

A 50mm Leitz Summar lens in reasonable good condition and with a lens hood produces more exciting images for one third the price in my opinion.

Mr Sadayasu Miyazaki needs to up his swirly bokeh content of that lens.

He should check out some primo 19th century petzval lenses like the ones made by Darlot or Derogy or Dallmeyer or Ross.

But that feat would be much easier for large format cameras than ones for a 35mm format.

Swirly bokeh literally makes me nauseous. That's why I could never stand looking at the pictures from the Petzval that Lomography is selling.

I like it from looking at American Civil War wet plate field portraits, as taken by Brady or Gardner or Timothy O'Sullivan or Barnard.

This was kind of my thought as well. I like it but it's definitely not something I'd need to have.

Some of the early Petzvals would probably be cheaper too - strange when a modern 'equivalent' is more costly than a piece of photographic history.

57mm sounds like Industar 61 l/d. Lens itself reminds me rigid I-50.
In provided examples I see only one real swirl. I have seen non-Petzval lenses doing this in same situation. Including Summar.

The lens reminds me of the rigid Industar 22 and 61..
