My C-41 home dev results

Nice results! I've never tried color processing as I'd just assumed it would be very difficult to do... hmmm, no you got me thinking!

You can replace the scratches with dust and dry-out remainings by developing yourself :).

The process itself is pretty much the same as in any 1 hour lab. There might be minor differences of course, but basic C-41 is a standard process. 1 hour labs might however use some other (faster?) process as the minilab-machines quote developing times of less than 15 minutes (dry-to-dry).

Sure you can over- and underdevelop and that way control the contrast or saturation. Doing it manually gives more control.

You don't necessarily dont have to do it as the manual says. Flickr has even some examples of stand-developing C-41. Colour-Negatives arent too picky because a scanner adjusts the photos anyway and the same goes for analog printing for colour. However crossover mistakes cannot be totally compensated when printing RA-4.

The main thing is price and being able to do it yourself when you want (night, weekends...) and get the results soon. Also being able to push or pull the negatives without additional cost and other adjustments.

Sharpness (acutance) could be controlled by rotating less and developing for longer times, but so far personally I have just used a Jobo processor because we have one at our club. Still it would be one interesting thing to try. Extreme example is of course stand-development. Should try it! :)
