Some of you may remember when I said this recently:

I suppose. I'm not convinced that either the Epson V750 or the Microtek M1 are the answer. If things go right I will be using an alternative to a scanner for making photographs.

On the other hand, with no practice and no training and horrible negatives to work with, an Epson 4990 is doing just fine for my needs at the moment.

Thanks to the generosity of a member of the Texas Photo Forum I will get an early birthday present. On Saturday I'm driving to Wichita Falls, Texas and loading my station wagon with a few darkroom goodies.

Excited can't begin to describe how I feel right now.

As soon as I get this stuff up and running I am going to have a LOT of questions. Stay tuned.

These were given to you?! Wow Happy Birthday

The equipment was given to the person who has it now. Since he doesn't want to use it, he is passing it along to me. I have every intention of using it. Should my good intentions go astray, I will pass the equipment on to someone else who will use it. :)

Wayne,
I can tell you from experience that getting free stuff like this is the icing on the cake. Enjoy it! The resurgence of the darkroom continues!

Wow, that's very cool. I think I will start hunting for a b/w darkroom system soon. I take a class this week how to process it and it is a lot of fun. Today I made the three first wet prints of my life. Very cool.

See my flickr for the results (photos named "Kurs3" to "Kurs1".).

Any free stuff is great.
A free 4x5 color enlarger based darkroom: Priceless!

I am most grateful!

Congrats and happy birthday. I also was given a a D5 color enlarger. In my case, I received a call from a friend I had lost track of. He told me he was getting rid of his D5 setup and asked me if I wanted it. When I asked him how much he wanted for it, he said that If I didn't come and rescue it before garbage day, he was going to put it out on the curb with the garbage:eek: . Needless to say, that tragedy was prevented,:D and it now is being cleaned and being made ready for its new home in my darkroom. I printed with this very enlarger a few years ago in his darkroom and I think it is a fine piece of equipment. I know you'll love it.

You'll want to check out the Fotospeed Mono RA-4 kits at B&H or Freestyle. Very easy to use. I managed to get real color prints out in about ten minutes and I hadn't printed color since 1983

I may try

Color is in the back of my brain. About 6 weeks ago I picked up a small Jobo tank and a 2840 extension tube. The labeling says it will process 2 8x10s or 1 16x20. I may have to give this color fad a try. :D

That's BIG enlarger, Paw Paw!

That's BIG enlarger, Paw Paw!

So.............

I left Pine Mills (the closet place to the house that's on the map) yesterday morning and drove over to Wichita Falls by way of Greenville, McKenney and Denton. I won't be doing that again. I met Jason and Aimee for lunch. After lunch we loaded up the wagon. The return trip took me through Henrietta, St. Jo, Sherman and Greenville. A much nicer drive for sure.

Last night I unloaded the wagon. Today I dusted things off. Adjusted what needed adjusting. Assembled what needed assembling. And PRESTO! This monster now occupies the sunroom. An Omega D5-XL Dichroic II enlarger and all the goodies to go with it. She Who Must Be Obeyed has spoken: That thing is going out in the garage before you go to bed!

hehe, I know to Whom you refer....There is one in the house I live in and she banishes the darkroom activities to the never-see regions of our property.

Aye. I know the feeling. In fact, I have the enlarger now becsause the original owner's SWMBO oredered it removed from thier house. I'm thankful that he didn't just toss it out but rather passed it along.
